The method
Written before, proven after.
The method you already use to govern every other major cost item, applied to energy. Three stages, and one rule: nothing is rewritten.
The starting point
Energy is the only major cost item decided without method, without memory and without verification.
79.5%

Variable can be the right choice. The problem is when nobody chose it.
Written before
A coverage policy, approved
It sets out what share of your requirement to make certain, within what range, against what budget, who proposes and who approves. It is approved by whoever is accountable for it. It is the rule by which every decision will later be judged: not the market, your rule.
- Share to cover and permitted range, for electricity and gas
- Who proposes and who approves, in separate roles
- Target share and signal thresholds that the administrator can set in the tool
During
A log that is never rewritten
Every decision enters the log with date and time, the rule in force and the market context at that moment, frozen. The person who proposes is not the person who approves. Months later, you can show why that day, with what was known then.
- Coverage position by commodity: certain share, exposed share, average price
- A rule-based signal: where today’s price stands against the last 24 months and your budget
- Supplier offers read from the document and compared with the wholesale price for the same day
- Approval by a different role from the one who proposes
Proven after
A report once the period is closed
Once the period is closed, the account is drawn up line by line, on like-for-like quantities: covered share against the range, weighted average price, cost, variance from budget. The report is frozen and does not change again.
- Log of decisions to print or export as CSV, and the account at the end of the delivery year
- Quarterly report as a document to take to the board
When the data are not enough
“We do not know” is something we say first.
Below twenty observations on distinct days, the system issues no signal. It tells you so, in the log and in the report, instead of giving you any number just to show something.
The engine
Rule-based, not an oracle.
The signal comes from declared rules: where today’s price stands within the last 24 months. The same data always produce the same signal, and you can know why. We do not use price forecasts. We use artificial intelligence for something else: reading supplier offers and answering your questions about your own data.
What it covers
Electricity and gas
A separate position for each commodity
Several countries
For groups with sites across Europe
Scope 2 emissions
Calculated with both location-based and market-based methods
Why we exist
Decisions are made over the phone, on someone's opinion.
And when the market turns, one question remains: why that day?
We do not know where the price will go, and we do not promise to.
What we do know is how a cost is governed.
The first step
Start from a bill.
Send us a recent bill and, if you have it, the latest offer you received. We activate your access with your figures already in: what you pay, where today’s price stands against the last two years and your budget, and how much the supplier adds on top of the wholesale price. Then you decide whether it is time to ask for a fixed-price or variable-price offer. No commitment, and no forecasts.
